On 2 April 2025, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) officially launched a new range of coins called "type 2024" to modernise and strengthen the use of cash payments in the six countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), where coins were becoming increasingly scarce.
