BEAC unveils new coins, with 200 FCFA as major innovation

On 2 April 2025, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) officially launched a new range of coins called "type 2024" to modernise and strengthen the use of cash payments in the six countries of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), where coins were becoming increasingly scarce.

It is a monetary novelty in the CEMAC space. BEAC has launched a monetary revolution with its new "Type 2024" coins. Modernized cuts to facilitate the daily lives of the people of Central Africa. These coins embody the CEMAC vision for Yvon Sana Bangui, governor of BEAC.
