Eby Faces Voters in B.C. Snap Election After Conservative Leadership Shakeup
More than 891,000 advance ballots were cast as parties battled over health care, housing and the province’s deficit in a five-week campaign.
British Columbians head to the polls today, October 24, 2026, to elect their next provincial government in a snap election called by NDP Leader David Eby.
Premier Eby called this snap election on September 22 after citing frustration with a "stalled out" legislature where the NDP held only a one-seat majority.
Days before the election call, Interim Conservative leader Lorne Doerkson replaced Kerry-Lynne Findlay, reshaping the opposition and unifying the party after months of internal division.
More than 891,000 voters cast ballots during advance polling, representing about 24 per cent of registered voters across the five-week campaign focused on affordability and health care.
Final election results may remain uncertain for weeks; Elections BC will not count mail-in and absentee ballots until roughly two weeks after today's vote.
