Trevor Nelson to Take Break From BBC Radio 2 for Medical Reasons: "I'm Concentrating on Getting Better"
Vernon Kay said Trevor Nelson will face the health challenge head on as BBC colleagues and fans sent support after his break announcement.
On Friday, broadcaster Trevor Nelson announced he is stepping back from work to undergo medical tests, focusing on his health to return to "100 per cent."
Nelson has enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career with the BBC, championing R&B music across his weekday show on BBC Radio 2 and Sunday programme on BBC Radio 1Xtra.
BBC Radio 2 colleague Vernon Kay expressed support, describing Nelson as a "stalwart broadcaster" and stating he is certain his friend will face this challenge "head on."
Director of Music Lorna Clarke issued a statement wishing Nelson a "very speedy recovery," while celebrities including Alesha Dixon and Fleur East shared messages of support.
Listeners can still hear Nelson present "The Music is Black" concert from Hackney Empire on Sunday, a pre-recorded performance featuring Courtney Pine and Omar celebrating Black Music in Britain.
