The BBC says work has begun on a new season after a four-year absence following Andrew Flintoff’s serious crash.

- A serious December 2022 crash at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey prompted the hiatus; host Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff suffered facial and rib injuries when his Morgan Super 3 overturned and skidded about 50 metres.
- Following the accident, the BBC reached a financial settlement with Flintoff reportedly worth around £9 million, which preceded the decision to halt production of the 34th series indefinitely.
- While reports suggest comedian Jimmy Carr is being considered for the role, Havard declined to discuss specific names, stating "I'm not going to talk about talent today."
- Production is underway with no finalized casting decisions yet; reports indicate Bosses are considering a woman and online celebrities to complement the lineup as the show develops.
