Avalanche on Nepal mountain Yalung Ri kills 7 including foreign climbers
- On Monday, officials in Nepal said an avalanche hit the base camp on Mount Yalung Ri in Dolakha district, killing three climbers and leaving eight missing.
- Cyclone Montha brought heavy rain and snowfall across Nepal last week, stranding trekkers as adverse weather in the Rolwaling valley preceded the avalanche.
- With helicopters grounded, ground search-and-rescue teams reached the site on foot while four injured climbers were evacuated to a nearby village.
- Teams from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and district police mobilised for search-and-rescue, and officials plan to continue operations with another aircraft attempt Tuesday morning.

In addition, two other foreigners and two locals also died after being buried by snow. More than a thousand people have recently been evacuated by avalanches.
