Attempted murderer who chased police officer with chainsaw is jailed

Last year, Liridon Kastrati was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Gary Cowan in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
A Volkswagen driven by Kastrati crashed into a police vehicle, and after initially fleeing, he returned with a chainsaw to pursue Pc Gary Cowan from about 10 metres.
CCTV footage captured Liridon Kastrati brandishing a chainsaw in Paisley last year, while PC Cowan and a colleague were injured and treated by paramedics as officers arrested Kastrati after calling for assistance.
When the case called at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday, sentencing was adjourned to January 20 because a criminal justice social work report had not been prepared, and Judge Gallacher told Kastrati, `I'm willing to give you one further opportunity.`
Kastrati had been remanded in custody for 18 months and was earlier told to expect a significant penalty, while the prosecution withdrew charges of breach of the peace, stealing a car and motoring offences.
