MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY, JUL 31 – Shane Tamura, 27, killed four including an off-duty NYPD officer before killing himself in a Midtown office building housing NFL and financial firms, police said.
- On Monday evening, Shane Tamura, of Las Vegas, shot and killed four people while trying to reach the NFL’s main office at 345 Park Ave and sources said he later took his own life.
- Shane Devon Tamura held an expired private investigator license, CNN reports, and the AP noted he may have suffered from CTE, sources said.
- The Fire Department of New York said emergency crews were called around 6:30 p.m., and NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch posted that the lone shooter was neutralized and scene contained.
- One civilian is in critical condition, and another civilian and the NYPD officer shot in the back are expected to survive, Mayor Eric Adams said.
- Through late July, New York City is on pace this year to possibly have its fewest homicides and gunfire injuries in decades, with the NFL in mourning, said sources.
