  • On Wednesday , the Iranian navy frigate IRIS Dena was hit and sank off Galle, leaving more than 100 missing after a dawn distress call.
  • Following the distress call, Sri Lanka dispatched navy vessels and air force aircraft to mount a rescue, with navy spokesman Buddhika Sampath saying, `We responded to the distress call under our international obligations, as this is within our search and rescue area in the Indian Ocean.`
  • Sri Lankan authorities said 32 rescued Iranian sailors were brought to Karapitiya Hospital, Galle, where one is critical and seven receive emergency care, Dr. Anil Jasinghe reported.
  • Officials have not identified an attacker, prompting parliamentary questions in the Sri Lankan parliament about broader U.S.-Israeli military strikes on Iran.
