As Las Vegas deals with decline in visitors from Canada, some businesses turn to incentives
Three casinos in downtown Las Vegas offer Canadian dollar at par to offset 20% drop in Canadian visitors and ease exchange rate concerns, promotion lasts through Aug. 31.
- On Wednesday, Circa, the D Las Vegas and Golden Gate launched the At Par program treating $1 Canadian as $1 U.S., running through Aug. 31 and owned by a group with 1,250 rooms.
- With Canadian visitation down 20 percent in 2025 and airline seat capacity from Canada down 30 percent, Canada remains Las Vegas's largest international market, while a weak Canadian dollar near $0.72 and U.S. federal policies add challenges.
- The program includes a 1-to-1 slot play exchange up to $500 and a one-time CAD$500-for-USD $500 gaming voucher; parity applies to select hotel room rates and drinks at Bar Canada, Overhang and Bar Prohibition.
- Derek Stevens said the program aims to ease financial barriers for all Canadians and `What I want to do is, I want to invite Canada back to Las Vegas`, adding success means visitors feel welcomed and safe.
- A 20 percent drop would equal 280,000 fewer visitors, with November visitors down to 3.1 million and January–November visits falling to 38.27 million, highlighting the stakes.
