STERLING HEIGHTS, MICHIGAN, JUL 12 – Police safely arrested the gunman after evacuating all workers from the Stellantis Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, ensuring no reported injuries during the incident, officials said.
- On the evening of July 12, 2025, law enforcement took into custody an armed Stellantis employee following a standoff inside the company’s facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
- The incident began when a 911 call reported a man with a handgun inside the plant, leading to employee evacuation and S.W.A.T. response.
- Production was not running during the event, which lasted about three hours, and no shots were fired or injuries reported.
- Stellantis spokesperson said, "being safe is the best outcome in this situation," confirming the armed man was taken into custody peacefully.
- The plant was shut down for several hours, employees will receive counseling upon reopening, and investigations into the man's motive continue.
