Two men charged in one of Edmonton's earliest major fentanyl busts are still awaiting sentencing after one of the offenders fired his lawyer — further delaying a case that has been on the court docket nearly 10 years.

The Justice has inhibited the assets of 33 people investigated by the contaminated fentanyl. Among them is Ariel García Furfaro, the owner of the HLB Pharma laboratory.
The Justice ordered the inhibition of assets to 24 people - including those of the owner of the laboratory HLB Pharma, Ariel García Furfaro- and nine companies related to the contaminated fentanyl, which already caused a total of 54 deaths.
