Apple unveils new operating system and AI capabilities

Apple reassigned Mike Rockwell, formerly of the Vision Pro team, to lead the Siri project after removing SVP John Giannandrea in mid-2025.
This leadership change followed delays announced in March and Apple’s partnership with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri and its AI image app.
At WWDC 2025 on June 9, Apple unveiled iOS 26 featuring a new design called Liquid Glass and introduced multiple AI-driven features including live translation and developer access to on-device models.
Craig Federighi mentioned that Apple is still developing improvements to enhance Siri’s personalization, but the update requires additional time to meet the company’s quality standards.
These developments indicate Apple aims to enhance its AI capabilities and developer ecosystem with full Siri updates expected beyond 2025 as it tries to catch up with rivals.
