Apple and Lenovo have the least repairable laptops, analysis finds
- The PIRG Education Fund's annual report released today ranks Apple last in both smartphone and laptop repairability, with a D- grade for iPhones and C- for MacBooks.
- Researchers evaluated 105 devices using European Union repairability criteria alongside US-specific factors, including whether manufacturers lobby against right-to-repair legislation.
- Motorola leads smartphones with a B+, while Asus tops laptops with the same grade; Samsung phones scored a D, and Lenovo laptops received a C-.
- "Make sure people can fix stuff when it breaks," said Nathan Proctor, senior director of PIRG Education Fund, noting Americans could save nearly $50 billion annually through improved repairability.
