Supermarket chain in the Czech Republic against sale of live carp
The traditional sale of carp before Christmas is coming under increasing pressure in the Czech Republic. This year, the British supermarket chain Tesco is for the first time banning the operation of stands in front of its branches where traders sell live fish in tubs. The company said this was done out of consideration for the animals. In recent years, the discounter Lidl and the Rewe subsidiary Billa had already decided to take such a step.
