135 More Beagles Released From Wisconsin Research Facility
The dogs will be spayed, neutered and prepared for adoption after animal welfare groups bought 135 more beagles from the breeding facility.
On Wednesday, Big Dog Ranch Rescue and the Center for a Humane Economy will transfer 67 beagles from Ridglan Farms to the BDRR Florida campus for medical care and nationwide adoption.
Ridglan Farms agreed to surrender its state dog breeding license by July 1, 2026, to avoid prosecution on animal mistreatment charges, though the facility has repeatedly denied the allegations.
Animal welfare groups secured the release of 135 beagles this week, bringing the total removed from Ridglan to 1,635, with the remaining 68 beagles going to the Dane County Humane Society and its partners.
"This rescue reminds us that compassion can change an entire life," said Lauree Simmons, founder and CEO of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, as the organization accepts donations for the animals' medical and housing needs.
Activists continue pushing for the facility's closure, though Ridglan has declined to disclose remaining dog numbers, citing safety concerns while rescue groups work to secure ownership of the remaining animals.
