Anfernee Simons Agrees to 2-Year Deal with Philadelphia 76ers
On Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers agreed to a two-year, $12.3 million deal with free agent guard Anfernee Simons, featuring a player option for the second season.
Following Wednesday's trade for Jaylen Brown, the 76ers sought to bolster their bench after sixth man Quentin Grimes agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Simons, 27, averaged 14.3 points and shot 38.5 percent from three-point range with the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls, providing offensive utility despite his 6-foot-2 frame limiting him defensively.
Philadelphia utilized the remainder of the non-taxpayer mid-level exception to finalize the deal, leaving the team hard-capped with $4.3 million in remaining wiggle room from the first tax apron.
With a revamped roster, the 76ers appear deeper for the upcoming season; Simons joins free-agent additions Ariel Hukporti and Dean Wade to bolster depth around star Joel Embiid.
