Wilson Begins Tenure as Ohio Attorney General
Wilson replaces Dave Yost and will lead about 1,500 employees across 30 divisions until voters choose the next attorney general.
- On Monday, Andy Wilson officially began his tenure as Ohio's 52nd attorney general after being sworn in at the Clark County Common Pleas Court, where he previously served as county prosecutor.
- Wilson replaces former Attorney General Dave Yost, who resigned effective Sunday to join the Alliance Defending Freedom as vice president of strategic research and innovation.
- Bringing over two decades of public-service experience, Wilson will oversee approximately 1,500 employees across 30 divisions, including the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy.
- Wilson's immediate priorities include protecting vulnerable populations and assisting law enforcement partners. "Over the next seven months, my commitment is simple: work hard, be proactive and continue the mission of protecting all Ohioans," Wilson said.
- State Auditor Republican Keith Faber is running against Democrat John Kulewicz for the permanent attorney general position in November, while Wilson serves in the interim role through year-end.
