Altoona City Council Adopts Ordinance Involving Trades

The Altoona City Council has adopted an ordinance that eliminates the requirement for plumbing and electrical work to be supervised by a master tradesman, allowing any licensed contractor to pull permits.  Proponents suggest this could decrease city contract costs by 18% to 30%, while opponents voice concerns about potential compromises to safety, quality, and the city’s inspection capacity.
