The number of children and young people who attend a German promotion class or a German promotion course due to problems with the language of instruction has recently risen to a new peak due to migration - especially refugees from Ukraine. According to the latest available data from Statistics Austria, in the school year 2023/24 almost 49,100 pupils received such a support offer. This is about a third more than in the introduction 2018/19.
