Three out of ten 15-year-old Flemish students do not reach the basic level for reading skills. In vocational education, this even rises to three-quarters of the students. This is revealed by new international PISA research involving nearly 4,000 Flemish students. Flanders still scores above the European average for reading, mathematics, and science, but has fewer and fewer high-achievers and more and more students who perform poorly.
