Lee Yanetook Kootenhayoo, 26, is facing a charge of second-degree murder after a body was discovered in a snowbank by an Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation road.

On April 6, Mayerthorpe RCMP responded to a call to assist an EMS crew with an unresponsive male who was later declared deceased. After speaking with witnesses, RCMP officers found that the man was laying on a snowbank on the side of the road. The male was identified as a 30-year-old resident of the Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation.
