18-year-old man charged with 2nd-degree murder in fatal QEII shooting
Jimmy Gassner, 18, was charged after a drive-by shooting that killed international student Birinder Singh; police are investigating a possible hate crime motive, RCMP said.
- An 18-year-old man from Lloydminster has been charged with second-degree murder in a fatal drive-by shooting on the Queen Elizabeth 2 Highway near Leduc, Alberta on March 14.
- The victim, 22-year-old Birinder Singh, an international student, was shot in the neck after waving back at someone in a pickup truck who made a hand gesture towards his car.
- Despite the charges, RCMP spokesman Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said the ultimate motive for the tragic incident is still unknown and being investigated.
