Fort McMurray, Cold Lake areas report growing labour force in June
Alberta added 30,000 jobs in June, a 1.2 per cent growth from May and the second increase in three months in the province. Most of these gains were full-time jobs. The unemployment rate in Alberta fell 0.6 percentage points to 6.8 per cent in June.
Statistics Canada released the June national labor market survey report on July 11. The data showed that the country added 83,000 jobs, a month-on-month increase of 0.4%, and the unemployment rate was 6.9%, down 0.1 percentage points from May. Alberta added 30,000 jobs (+1.2%), leading the country.
