- After the Tata takeover, Air India placed orders for 350 Airbus and 220 Boeing jets, and Air India Group now has over 300 planes supporting its expansion.
- Configured in a three-class layout, the aircraft joins Air India’s fleet of 26 B787-8s and six B787-9s inherited from Vistara, marking the 52nd delivery from the 2023 Boeing order.
- After DGCA inspections, the aircraft is expected to arrive in India in the next few days, while a dozen legacy Dreamliners will return to service through 2026, Campbell Wilson said.
- Privatised nearly four years ago, Air India received its first Boeing 787-9 since privatisation, with the last line-fit Dreamliner delivered in October 2017 under government ownership.
