Mizzou Running Back Ahmad Hardy Set to Return to Practice After May Shooting
Ahmad Hardy will resume practice as Missouri’s medical staff weighs his return to game action after a gunshot wound sidelined him since May.
On Sunday, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz announced that running back Ahmad Hardy will return to practice this week, nearly six months after suffering a gunshot wound to his leg in Mississippi.
Hardy suffered the gunshot wound on May 10 while attending a concert in Mississippi. He underwent immediate surgery and has participated only in individual rehabilitation since the incident.
In Hardy's absence, Senior Jamal Roberts has kept the Tigers' rushing attack alive and well. Roberts ranks second in the Southeastern Conference with 867 rushing yards on 167 carries this season.
Drinkwitz stated that a "two-week ramp-up" period is required before Hardy returns to game action. Medical staff will determine his clearance following consultation.
Missouri currently holds a 5-2 record and travels to Arkansas on Saturday. The team faces a challenging schedule ahead, including games against Texas, Georgia, Kentucky, and Oklahoma.
