The captain of a ship which crashed into a lock gate on the Moselle river in December, paralysing traffic for almost two months, has been fined by a German court over the incident.

For months no ships could sail on the Moselle because a freighter had rammed a lock near Müden. Now the district court decided who was responsible.

MÜDEN/KOBLENZ. After the devastating accident at the Moselle lock Müden a criminal order was issued against the ship's commander. This was confirmed by the Procuratorate Koblenz and the District Court of St. Goar of the newspaper. According to this, the accused had violated his duty of care.
