Gibson Dunn, ADL Debut National Pro Bono Network to Combat Antisemitism

The Anti-Defamation League's new network involves over 40 law firms and 39,000 attorneys to offer free legal help against antisemitism nationwide.

  • Announced on Oct. 29, the Anti-Defamation League launched the ADL Legal Action Network with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and more than 40 law firms tapping 39,000 attorneys.
  • The ADL has increasingly turned to litigation, filing more suits recently than in its previous 110 years combined as its case list since Oct. 7 spans campuses, K-12 districts, workplaces and terror-finance suits.
  • Victims will submit incidents online, and the artificial intelligence triage system evaluates reports before referring them to partner law firms or ADL's in-house litigators; the network covers workplaces, public accommodations, and campuses.
  • ADL leaders say the expansion dramatically increases access to legal support for Jewish Americans, and settlements or filings can prompt immediate changes, aided by the ADL litigation team and outside law firms.
  • The new network joins a crowded field of Jewish legal groups, including the Louis D. Brandeis Center and The Lawfare Project, amid criticism from civil liberties groups and Palestinian-rights advocates over IHRA adoption and large law firms recalibrating pro bono work.
