- Following the cancellations, the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Oregon Council for the Humanities filed suit in May to reverse the funding cuts, prompted by President Trump's cost-cutting efforts.
- The judge held that Simon noted unrebutted evidence of irreparable harms when programs are canceled, reflecting a deliberate decision to flout Congressional command.
