The World Health Organization (WHO) delivered an official certificate to Mauritania proving the final elimination of Tracuma as a public health problem at an official ceremony held on the margins of the seventy-eighth session of the WHO General Assembly, Geneva.
I congratulate the Mauritanian Government and people on this achievement. It is a new example of the tremendous progress we have made in combating neglected tropical diseases and gives hope to many other countries that are still struggling with the disease of the Temperature.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has validated Mauritania as having eliminated trachoma as a public health problem, making it the seventh country in WHO’s African Region to achieve this significant milestone. The validation certificate was received by Honorable Abdallahi Sidi Mohamed Wedih, Minister of Health and Aïcha Vall Vergès, Ambassador of Mauritania to Switzerland at the Seventy-eighth World Health Assembly.
