Abhishek Sharma dispatches Roston Chase over covers for first six in IND vs WI 2026 3rd T20I
Indian opener Abhishek Sharma became the fastest player to reach 2000 T20I runs on Sunday, requiring 1024 deliveries and scoring 33 runs during the 3rd T20I against West Indies in Indore.
Abhishek surpassed his former skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who previously held the record with 1164 deliveries. Among Full-Member nations, Finn Allen ranks next, having reached the landmark earlier this year.
The Punjab native also holds the record for the fastest 100 sixes in T20Is, surpassing Evin Lewis, who needed 789 deliveries. Last month against Afghanistan, Abhishek scored the fastest century by any Indian in the format.
India and West Indies remain level at 1-1 in the 3rd T20I series. West Indies made two changes, resting Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein for Quentin Sampson and Keemo Paul.
Abhishek has emerged as a top opening batter in the ICC T20I Rankings since debuting for India. He continues to perform after scoring a half-century in the World Cup final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
Abhishek Sharma has completed 2000 runs in T20 International cricket. He has also set a new record, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav. Abhishek performed brilliantly with the bat in the third T20.
