‘Barricades Won’t Be Enough,’ Says CJP's Dipke at Mumbai Protest to Demand CEC's Resignation
On Friday, thousands gathered at Mumbai's Shivaji Park for a Cockroach Janta Party protest, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
Held on Gandhi Jayanti, the demonstration was part of a nationwide campaign against the Election Commission of India , backed by actors Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Prakash Raj, and Vishal Dadlani.
CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke challenged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to arrest protesters who chanted "Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod," claiming they were prepared to remain in jail for three months.
Fadnavis dismissed the protest as a "fake narrative," while Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar defended the ECI and called the agitation a "grammar of anarchy."
Parallel protests near Jantar Mantar in Delhi saw Students' Federation of India and Democratic Youth Federation of India members demand Kumar's removal, as the CJP threatened to extend agitation to other cities.
The Cockroach Janata Party organized a rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti to protest against the country's Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar. During the rally, they also took a dig at the Delhi Police.
