It was no surprise that a lad christened John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg in the 1700’s was brought up close to the church. He eventually became a minister and pastored a church at Woodstock, VA. Many colonists wanted to become independent from Britain at the time and Muhlenberg agreed.
