Man Shot in Confrontation with ICE in NYC; Child in Back Seat of SUV

- On Thursday, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and wounded a man in his SUV in the Marble Hill neighborhood of the Bronx. The man's injuries were not life-threatening, according to the New York Police Department.
- The Department of Homeland Security stated agents were conducting a targeted arrest of a Dominican Republic national with multiple criminal convictions. Officials alleged the man "has associations to the Trinitarios gang."
- New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reported officers fired multiple rounds while a five-year-old child was in the vehicle. "Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds," Mamdani said.
- Following the shooting, Mayor Mamdani reached out to President Donald Trump demanding an end to local ICE enforcement actions. "I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities," Mamdani wrote.
- DHS defended the operation, claiming sanctuary city policies force personnel to conduct arrests in dangerous community settings. The agency stated it provided aid to the wounded man.
