Person shot during interaction with federal agents in New York City: NYPD
The wounded person is conscious and receiving medical attention as officials say the NYPD was not involved in the shooting.
Federal law enforcement agents associated with the Department of Homeland Security —specifically Immigration and Customs Enforcement —shot and wounded a person during an operation around 4:00 p.m. in New York City's Marble Hill neighborhood.
Preliminary information indicates an ICE agent fired at the individual while the person was inside a grey vehicle near West 225th Street and Marble Hill Avenue.
The wounded individual remained conscious following the shooting and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The New York Police Department confirmed that local officers were not present at the time of the incident and were not involved in the discharge of firearms.
An FBI Evidence Response Team was dispatched to the scene to assist DHS investigators, while New York Governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement demanding a full and transparent federal accounting of the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
