- On Friday, federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment charging Andrea Bradley-Baskin, judge, 36th District Court, Nancy Williams, Avery Bradley, and Dwight Rashad with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in a scheme targeting incapacitated adults.
- Prosecutors say the defendants exploited the probate system to divert ward funds for personal use from January 2017 to July 2024, and the FBI began probing in fall 2024.
- The indictment alleges Bradley-Baskin spent $70,000 on a stake in Chick's Bar, and more than $247,000 on luxuries and properties, including rent on two properties.
- Chief Judge William McConico suspended Bradley-Baskin, saying `This action is taken to uphold public confidence in the judiciary during this period`; she was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond while the investigation continues.
- A lien filed on May 13 targets a Coolidge Highway office building in Oak Park owned by Twitty Investments LLC, potentially forfeitable as proceeds of bribery and fraud, with over 1,000 cases linked to Guardian & Associates.
