Today, 28 June 2025, 85 years from one of the most dramatic decisions in the history of modern Romania: the surrender of Basarabi and the north of Bucovina to the Soviet Union, following the end of 26 June 1940.
28 June 1940 is considered a black day in the history of the Romanian people. Basarabia and the north of Bucovinia have been broken up by the Patria-Mama, Romania, and resigned, following a finalum, the Soviet Union. On 28 June 1940 was declared the day of Soviet occupation, through a decree signed in 2010, by the interim President of R. Moldova since then, liberal Mihai Ghimpu.
