Mauthausen, May 11, 2025 – Yesterday, May 11, a memorial ceremony was held in the former German concentration camp Mauthausen in Austria to mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation. More than 10,000 people attended the ceremony. Among them was a delegation from Slovenia. 8,650 Yugoslavs were interned in Mauthausen, of whom 4,153 were Slovenians (including 109 women). 1,500 Slovenians died during the war. The camp was liberated on May 5, 1045.
