Fleeing Inmate From Osun Jailbreak Arrested in Lagos After Police Tracking

Seven prisoners fled from the correctional facility in Ilesa, Osun State, early on May 20, 2025, after heavy rain caused damage to the perimeter wall around 2:00 a.m.
Heavy rainfall damaged the prison's weak perimeter wall, creating the opportunity for the inmates to flee, prompting an immediate manhunt by the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Under the leadership of Controller General Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, the Nigerian Correctional Service is partnering with various security bodies and local leaders to locate and apprehend the inmates who escaped.
Officers arrested 39-year-old escapee Kabiru Oyedun in Lagos' Ayobo area on May 21, 2025, about 5:30 p.m., after tracking him down following his jailbreak from Ilesa.
The NCoS has announced a bounty of N5 million for anyone who provides valuable information leading to the arrest of the escapees, while also enhancing security measures at the facility to deter future breakouts and calling on the public to assist in the efforts.
