M6.2 earthquake hits Indonesia's Talaud Islands: CENC

A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck Indonesia's Talaud Islands at a depth of 140 km on Tuesday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The German Geoscience Research Center GFZ announced that a 6.3 magnitude earthquake occurred off the Talaud Islands in northern Indonesia. No official statement has yet been made regarding the depth of the tremor and whether there were any casualties.

In Indonesia, earthquakes of magnitude 6.3 occurred in the Talaud Islands and 5.7 near Bandung. The tremors, which were 57 km deep, occurred in the Pacific Ring of Fire. There is no information yet on loss of life or damage. While authorities stated that there was no risk of a tsunami, panic broke out in Bandung. Seismologists are analyzing the data and an aftershock warning has been issued.
