Crising, Habagat Toll: 5 Dead, 7 Missing, Says NDRRMC
METRO MANILA, PHILIPPINES, JUL 21 – Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon affected over 800,000 people nationwide, causing infrastructure and agricultural damage worth millions of pesos, officials reported.
- The PNP said Monday that, due to Severe Tropical Storm Crising, six civilians were injured and six others went missing.
- Amid the storm's passage, Tropical Cyclone Crising did not make landfall; instead, its intensification of the Southwest Monsoon caused widespread severe weather in Western Visayas.
- As of July 22, the Panay Center for Disaster Response reported 38,000 families—about 135,000 individuals—affected across 416 barangays in 40 municipalities and cities.
- According to PNP chief Police General Nicolas Torre III, the PNP rescued 276 individuals and assisted 35,000 at evacuation centers.
- Agriculture Undersecretary Roger Navarro said `We must act without delay—weather permitting—to ease the suffering of our farmers and fisherfolk`, while Jovy Bernabe instructed PCIC personnel to extend assistance and expedite claims.
