US launches fresh strikes on Iran after Hormuz ship attack
On Saturday, President Donald Trump ordered U.S. Central Command to launch a third round of strikes against Iran, hitting approximately 140 military targets including missile and drone sites in the Strait of Hormuz region.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck the Cyprus-flagged container ship M/V GFS Galaxy in the Strait of Hormuz, causing significant engine-room damage and forcing the crew to abandon the burning vessel with one crew member missing.
Iran subsequently announced the Strait of Hormuz closed "until further notice," retaliating by launching missiles and drones at U.S.-linked facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Jordan as regional air defenses reported intercepting incoming fire.
President Donald Trump warned the U.S. is ready to "completely decimate" Iran if Tehran attempts to assassinate him, while Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed avenging his father is "the demand of the nation" and "must certainly" take place.
