3 killed as speeding BMW runs over pedestrians on Mumbai's Coastal Road, driver held
Police said the BMW was speeding before it hit a wall and plunged nearly 75 feet, leaving one student critically injured.
On Sunday morning, three students died and one was critically injured after a speeding BMW crashed on Mumbai's Coastal Road, plunging nearly 75 feet after striking a divider.
Sanay Gujjar, 21, Aditya Jakasania, 19, and Dhairya Sheth, 17, were BBA students from a college in Vile Parle traveling from Marine Drive when the accident occurred around 5 am.
Police suspect high speed caused Gujjar to lose control of the family BMW near Haji Ali. The vehicle struck the Coastal Road's outer wall before falling nearly 75 feet, according to senior inspector Meena Jagtap of Tardeo police station.
Aditya Oswal, 23, remains in critical condition at Nair Hospital undergoing treatment. Authorities have informed the families of the deceased and are recording statements from friends and witnesses.
According to the BMC, the black BMW was traveling toward Haji Ali when the crash occurred around 5 am. Investigators are continuing their probe into the circumstances of the collision.
