A study conducted in the US has shown that controlling blood pressure and blood sugar levels in middle age and avoiding smoking can delay the onset of dementia by about 13 years. In the study, which followed more than 12,000 people for approximately 25 years, NYU researchers found that those who did not have these three risk factors between the ages of 45 and 65 lived longer without developing dementia.
