Nigeria: Money, Might Will Decide 2027 Presidential Polls
INEC and the Nigerian Air Force will form a joint team to coordinate logistics and security using aircraft and surveillance to support the 2027 elections, officials said.
- During a courtesy visit to INEC's Abuja headquarters, the Nigerian Air Force offered logistics support, and INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan expressed willingness to work with the NAF for 2027 elections.
- With logistics gaps in mind, INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan said the commission would work with the Nigerian Air Force and other military arms to overcome challenges, he said.
- The Nigerian Air Force said it is positioning its Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities and arranging alternative aircraft to move electoral materials and personnel while some C-130 aircraft undergo maintenance abroad.
- Enhanced situational awareness, Aneke said, should help detect security threats early and reassure INEC of the Nigerian Air Force's readiness to secure the electoral environment.
- Preparing for 2027, INEC said upcoming off-cycle governorship elections will serve as important exercises, highlighting the longstanding partnership with the Nigerian Air Force.
