1974 Mercedes Classic Car Rolls Into IJzer During Meeting in Stavele: "Hopefully the Car Can Be Repaired"

A 51-year-old Mercedes 280 ended up in the river IJzer in Stavele near Alveringem. A gathering of classic car enthusiasts was taking place in the parking lot of the café 't Hof van Commerce. The owner may have forgotten his handbrake. Fire brigade divers were able to retrieve the car from the water together with a towing service. It is not yet clear what damage the classic car sustained.

A 51-year-old Mercedes 280 classic car disappeared completely in the water of the IJzer in Stavele (Alveringem) on Sunday afternoon. The car rolled out of the parking lot of the iconic café 't Hof van Commerce, where a gathering of classic car enthusiasts was taking place.
