Sick pelicans along Central Coast for second year in a row
MONTEREY BAY, Calif. (KION) -- It is now the second year distressed pelicans are showing up on the Central Coast. SPCA Monterey County said in a release that it has rescued 16 pelicans since April 11th, with more calls coming in today. Many of them are being found in unusual areas, including the landfill in Marina, a neighborhood in Royal Oaks, and near Chomp. SPCA says the pelicans are all thin or emaciated and unable to fly.
