New Year · MacombKroger Co. of Michigan will host food drives to aid Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan. 93 Kroger stores will take turns hosting food drives on Saturdays and Sundays through Jan. 29. During the food collection events, Kroger is asking its customers to donate nonperishable items.

Macomb, Michigan · MacombRex Dale Phelps, 71, was arraigned Monday in 42nd District Court in Romeo on charges of accosting a child for immoral purposes. Phelps also has federal charges pending for similar offenses that took place in his aircraft, State Police said. Phelps was employed as an engine mechanics teacher at Dakota High School in Macomb Township.
