The drama of Deinze is complete: after months of misery, the football club along the Leie was finally declared bankrupt today. The ambitious second division club got caught up in an impossible takeover dossier this season and never got rid of its mountain of debt. The verdict was pronounced today in the Enterprise Court of Ghent.
What has been hanging in the air for a while is now official: football club KMSK Deinze is bankrupt. The Ghent Commercial Court declared this on Wednesday. Two curators were appointed to handle the bankruptcy.

The end of KMSK Deinze is now really near. On Wednesday, the court will rule on the bankruptcy of the East Flemish club. And if the curtain actually falls, Deinze will disappear from the competition. That would also have a major impact on the Challenger Pro League. All clubs that scored points against the East Flemish club this season would lose those points. In that case, there would only be one relegated team at the end of the season.
