- Police in Nagpur rescued a 16-year-old girl from a Dighori rented house late Monday night, arresting 19-year-old Nirmay Madhav Pakhare for kidnapping and sexual assault after allegedly holding her captive for more than 30 hours.
- Pakhare allegedly created a fake Instagram account identifying himself as 'Akash Mehra' last year to befriend the teenager, gradually gaining her trust before obtaining intimate photographs to coerce her through blackmail.
- Officers discovered the victim lying on a bed with her limbs tied, bearing approximately 20 injuries including knife wounds on her wrists and neck, while a knife was recovered near the scene.
- While detained, Pakhare made bizarre demands for pizza, soft bedding, and mosquito repellent, complaining about dirty walls and unhygienic conditions in the Nagpur lock-up, officials said.
- Hudkeshwar police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, though investigators report Pakhare has refused to undergo medical examinations or provide access to his electronic devices.
