Young boy fatally struck by GO train in Mississauga

  • On March 18, 2026, Peel police said a boy about 12 or 13 was struck and killed by a Lakeshore West GO Train near Alexandra Avenue and Fourth Street in Mississauga around 2:45 p.m.
  • Preliminary investigators say the child was riding a reported type of motorized bike and went around a crossing barrier while safety equipment at the crossing was functioning with lights and audible tone.
  • Emergency crews responded and a large response prompted road closures on Fourth Street and Alexandra Avenue, while GO Transit bus shuttles operated between Port Credit and Long Branch GO stations.
  • Metrolinx said there was no train service operating through the area late Wednesday, with delays expected; one track was later released and GO Transit began limited service between Long Branch and Port Credit.
  • Metrolinx will lead the technical investigation with Peel police assisting, and police say they will also investigate the death after the incident on the Lakeshore West line between Long Branch and Port Credit GO stations.
